DECATUR,GA–On Thursday, Nov.16, DeKalb County District 5 Commissioner Mereda Davis Johnson sponsored a Thanksgiving holiday brunch for seniors at the East DeKalb Senior Center at Bruce Street. Nearly 100 seniors attended the brunch. DECATUR, GA—North Decatur Road, between North Decatur Lane and Jordan Lane, will experience lane closures 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26, through Monday, Dec. 4, excluding Dec. 1-2 Day work will take place Monday, Nov. 27, and Tuesday, Nov. 28, from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. The lane closures are part of the Scott Boulevard Water Main Replacement Project Phase II.  Lane closure and detour signs will be placed in the area during the lane closure period, advising motorists of construction work in the area and of local traffic restrictions. ATLANTA, GA—Early this morning, local American Red Cross volunteers from the Atlanta area responded to an apartment fire on Windmont Drive NE in Brookhaven, GA. Red Cross volunteers part of the Disaster Action Team were on the scene to help coordinate emergency aid to those affected. They assisted more than a dozen families for a total of 73 people. At this time, a reception center has opened for residents who have been displaced. They will receive meals, and comfort, while officials determine if those in unaffected units may return home.
